In France, the breast reconstruction is more and more carried out for the women who had a mastectomy because thanks to that, most of them can be reconstructed after their cancer and they can regain the integrity of their corporeal image. Therefore, the breast reconstruction has a strong psychological impact on the patient. Our job as osteopaths leads us to meet more and more women who have had a breast reconstruction, that is the reason why it is interesting to see if those women are led to the same dysfunction. The aim of this survey is to show that osteopathic dysfunctions can also be found for women who had a breast reconstruction with latissimus dorsi musculo cutaneous flap. Therefore, we have tested in the same way the seven patients with whom we worked, and then we realized a comparative analysis of the different results. Those results reveal the presence of similar dysfunctions for these seven women. There might be a dysfunction caused by the absence of the latissimus dorsi.
It would be interesting for these patients to follow an osteopathic treatment even if they will still have a dysfunction caused by the absence of the latissimus dorsi. This dysfunction will be more or less embarrassing according to the patient's personal living with a cancer, her treatments and her reconstruction.
