In light of the increasing use of complementary and alternative médicine, which includes osteopathy, healthcare professionals and public authorities have to find out about this social phenomen in order to better assess its impact on patients and society. If we compare osteopathy and conventional médicine, osteopathy provides both philosophical and humam advantages which meet increased patient demand for a holistic approach. The possible integration of osteopathy into French healthcare poses many legal questions in a profession which advocates being the primary healthcare provider. Osteopathy must, however, be scientifically proven to be effective and economical as far as possible. |
