The Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV) occupy a significant place in recovery room for the patients having undergone a surgical operation.
Those received morphinic medications with antalgic aiming during the operation, and after the operation during the recovery period of the anaesthesia.
Morphine acts on the level of the chemo-receiving zone of the area postrema, on the center of the vomiting, on the level of the 4th ventricle. Morphine also acts on the level of the digestive tract with demonstrations of atonicity of longitudinal fibres and hypertonicity of circular fibres. This peripheral action involves a hyperpression in the bile ducts and increase in tonicity of the sphincter of Oddi. These two combined actions, by efferent way and related way, support occurred of PONV.
These two combined actions, by efferent way and related way, support occurred of NVOP. This study proposes, by a work osteopathic on these two
levels, to decrease the PONV :
1 - on the level of the 4th ventricle, by a compression of the 4th ventricle
preceded by a standardization of the tent of the cerebellum,
2 - at the digestive level, by a standardization of the sphincter of Oddi,
preceded by a related standardization of the duodenum, supports occurred of
PONV.
A study on 22 cases shows 50% of total and final adoption PONV, and for the other cases, a very clear improvement. Other demonstrations accompanying this reduction, even the stop of the PONV, are in favour of a normotonicity of the activity of X. This study shows the interest of osteopathic practices for the improvement of the comfort of the patients in postoperative period.
